Allene Villa, a proud San Luis Obispo County native, received her B.A. in Political Science from Cal Poly in 1994 and a M.A. in Psychology from Chapman University in 2012. Allene held the position of SLO District Chair for United Domestic Workers of America (UDW) from 2007-2016, working to improve the In-Home Support Services ( IHSS) program and help strengthen the union. Through UDW, she has advocated for the disabled and lobbied to improve pay and benefits for IHSS homecare providers.

Allene comes from a small family. Her mother—an immigrant from Mexico—single-handedly raised her and her brother and sister. She worked as a farm laborer and in the farming industry for 30 years.

Allen is currently a homecare provider for her mother. She is also a proud member of the #MeToo Movement.
