About Dr. Penny Borenstein
As the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Officer, Dr. Penny Borenstein, oversees activities that protect and promote healthy living for county residents and visitors. Dr. Borenstein received her MD from SUNY Health Sciences Center at Syracuse and her MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and has been working in the medical field for more than 20 years in both the private and public sector. Dr. Borenstein is currently leading the county’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
