Join us for the sixteenth episode of Answering the Call as we talk to Meghan Madsen, District 1 Commissioner for SLO Commission on the Status of Women.

The Commission on the Status of Women is an official advisory group to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors established in 1975. The Commission identifies issues of concern to women of San Luis Obispo County, provides input to County officials, and collaborates with other organizations to address the needs of women in our community.  On this episode we will discuss the importance of their annual Women’s Issues Survey, the 2021 Women’s Wall of Fame Awards and Luncheon, which honors inspiring women who are making a difference in our community, and other projects and activities that the Commission organizes and participates in. About Meghan Madsen
Meghan Madsen was appointed District 1 Commissioner in July 2019. Meghan lives in Paso Robles with her husband, daughter, son, and 3 furry kids. Meghan has eleven years of service in her role as Program Manager of Wellness Centers and Education Programs for Transitions-Mental Health Association. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, minor in Sociology from Columbia College, Missouri.

Meghan’s work experience includes management, supervision, crisis intervention training, event planning, program development, and behavioral counseling. At the center located throughout SLO County, Meghan serves others with respect, and her oversight of a number of recovery and education program touches the lives of many people seeking hope. A survivor of personal trauma, she channels her painful experiences into action, leading a team of thirteen staff and countless interns to serve over 730 adults living with mental illness in SLO County.

In March 2019, Meghan received the San Luis Obispo County Commission on the Status of Women Wall of Fame Award for Service in SLO County.

Meghan facilitates various trainings for the agency as well as the community. She holds trainer certification for ProACT, a Crisis Intervention Training. She also is a Gatekeeper Trainer for QPR- Question.Persuade.Refer. which is a Suicide Intervention Training. Meghan has developed and facilitates a Group Facilitation Training, which incorporates strategies for service providers to effectively facilitate training, presentations, and support groups.
