Join us for the seventeenth episode of Answering the Call with Julie Rodewald, the Voter Service Director for the League of Women Voters of SLO County, and the SLO County Clerk-Recorder serving from 1994-2014. We will talk about the importance of participating in the democratic process and voting, the role of League of Women Voters in election process and educating voters, and discuss if your vote really makes a difference.
About Julie Rodewald
Julie Rodewald joined the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office in 1981 and was elected as County Clerk-Recorder in November 1994. She served in that position for 20 years until her retirement in December, 2014. During her tenure she was responsible for conducting 35 elections, including 22 regularly scheduled elections, 5 district or city special elections, 4 countywide vacancy elections and 4 statewide special elections. She has served as the president of the County Recorder’s Association of California and Board member for the California Association of Clerks and Elections Officials.
She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Psychology from the University of California San Diego and earned a paralegal degree from St. Mary’s College.
Since her retirement she has remained active with voting as the Voter Service Director for the League of Women Voters of SLO County and she was instrumental in the League’s High School Voter Registration Project, which is the subject of a short documentary film, Forever Voters. She volunteers at HumanKind, a fair trade store in San Luis Obispo and serves on the Advisory Board of the Assistance League.
She is active in the Morro Bay and Avila Beach Women’s golf clubs and enjoys kayaking in Morro Bay. She and her husband, Rick, live in Los Osos.
