In our third episode of Answering the Call – a conversation with women in the forefront of the coronavirus crisis – we will talk to Shannon K. Hovis, the Director of California for NARAL Pro-Choice America. For over 50 years, NARAL has advocated for affordable access to all reproductive health care options, including birth control and abortion care, and support for people who choose to work while pregnant and those raising families.
On Wednesday we will talk about the recent efforts to overturn or gut Roe v. Wade state and nationwide, and about the unique set of challenges that we are faced with due to Covid 19. We will discuss why it’s more important than ever to enact broad protections for abortion access and ensure everyone can receive reproductive healthcare no matter where they live. We will also talk about what it’s like to be in a leadership role in this fight, and what action can we all take.
About Shannon K. Hovis
Shannon brings more than a decade of experience as a change maker in the classroom, on campaigns, in the Sacramento Mayor’s office, California State Legislature, and the California Attorney General’s office. As a proud bi-feminist, Shannon is fiercely committed to equity, inclusivity, and diversity, and has spent her career in the fight for civil and human rights. She graduated from the University of Southern California, and holds a Master of Science for Teachers from Pace University, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
