The Women’s March SLO is thrilled to announce that it is cooperating with ARTS Obispo to call for themed art displays in downtown venues.
The January Art After Dark event will feature art reflecting Women’s March SLO Unity Principles and the theme of our January 20, 2018 rally – Hear Our Vote: Voices of Resistance.
Artists will create pieces that embrace the ideas of social justice, individual freedom, equal rights, civil rights and protection of the planet (among others).
“The magic of all art is that it has the ability to both capture our pain and deliver us from it at the same time.”
The art will remain up throughout the month. A January 20th #walkaboutslo is also planned. A printed and mobile map will mark #walkaboutslo venues and businesses featuring the art that reflects Women’s March Unity Principles.
*** ARTS Obispo, the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council and the local partner of the California Arts Council, advances the visual, literary and performing arts through programs that promote public access to the arts, arts in educational settings, local arts planning and collaboration, and opportunities for artists and arts organizations.
There is no obvious link to find more information about this art exhibition opportunity planned in conjunction with the Resistance March. Can you provide the link or information? Thanks.
Hi Joanne,
We will be providing more details as we get them – we are still working out details. Check back or sign up for our emails for updates.
Thank you!
I already have 2 paintings that would qualify. Please be sure to notify me when you know the details.
I too have a couple of pieces that would help illuminate the theme. When you have an update, I would very much appreciate a heads-up… Merci!
