Citizens Climate Lobby
Citizens Climate Lobby is an organization that has been working to place a price on carbon through national Carbon Fee and Dividend legislation. We believe climate change should not be a political issue, but sadly the real power to make effective change in our energy policies is in Washington DC. We now have a bill in congress, HR 763, with 73 co-sponsors including congressman, Salud Carbajal. Our bill is designed to price carbon out of our economy in progressive way that will actually put money in the pockets of poor and working class families while improving the economy at the same time.

Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund
The Planned Parenthood Central Coast Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood California Central Coast. Our mission is to expand access to quality reproductive health care for all, including safe and legal abortion, through community education, public policy initiatives, and support for candidates committed to this work.

GALA
GALA is an LGBTQ+ nonprofit organization in San Luis Obispo County. We provide support, resources and social events for all on the gender and sexuality spectrums.

Surfrider SLO
Surfrider SLO works to preserve our county’s ocean, waves and beaches. Priority campaigns include Protect Oceano Dunes in partnership with the Dunes Alliance, and the STOP Climate Change program. The Dunes Alliance is a coalition of community and environmental organizations active on the California Central Coast and dedicated to the safe and environmentally-sustainable use and enjoyment of the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Complex. STOP is advocating for the Green New Deal and has been active over the past five years fighting expansion of fossil fuel projects such as offshore drilling, the Phillips 66 crude oil train terminal project, and fracking on federal lands, and supported Measure G to ban new oil infrastructure.

RISE
A nonprofit organization that serves both victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones, RISE provides comprehensive programs, services and resources to the community.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America
Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws and work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families. We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know that gun violence is preventable, and we’re committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe.

CAPSLO
211 is a collaboration between United Way, the District Attorneys office, CAPSLO, and SLOCOE working to create a more accessible pathway for community members to receive services. What we are trying to do is promote one updated resource guide for SLO County. By doing this we are hoping to streamline the process for people to receive services in our community.

5 Cities Hope
5 Cities Hope provides an inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies of all ages and backgrounds to connect with one another. This service includes resource fairs, holiday events,social support groups, Pride Celebration, outdoor activities, and other community events.

Sunrise Movement SLO
Sunrise is a movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. We’re building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. We are ordinary young people who are scared about what the climate crisis means for the people and places we love. We are gathering in classrooms, living rooms, and worship halls across the country. Everyone has a role to play. Public opinion is already with us – if we unite by the millions we can turn this into political power and reclaim our democracy.

The Trump elections woke us up to the fact that the LGBT community in San Luis Obispo County, lulled by many recent improvements of their civil rights, had become complacent about politics. So we became an officially chartered club of the Democrats in March 2017, and we continue to keep our constituents informed about political events around the county, while keeping our allies informed about issues that matter to us. Latino Outreach Council
The Latino Outreach Council is dedicated to facilitation the equal and full participation of all members of the Latino community in the life and affairs of San Luis Obispo County.
Goals
• To identify and facilitate the removal of barriers which inhibit the Latino community’s achievement of its goals.
• To develop strategies that optimize the delivery of services and resources necessary for Latinos to fully participate in and contribute to the whole community.
• To forge alliances with other community organizations which support the mission and goals of the Latino Outreach Council.
Historical Perspective
In 1992, the Latino Outreach Task Force was formed as an outgrowth of concerns expressed by members of the community and the Board of Supervisors of San Luis Obispo County. Soon after organizing, the Task Force commissioned a research firm to conduct a study of the perceived needs, interests, and concerns of the Latino population of the County. The results clearly indicated that “the Latino population is at a substantial social and economic disadvantage to the rest of the population in the region.”

Central Coast Fibromyalgia (ME/ CFS) Group
Fibromyalgia/ME/CFS awareness support groups meet monthly at the library in San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.

San Luis Obispo Democratic Socialists of America
The San Luis Obispo chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States. We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters, DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.

WIP SLO
Women in the Pipeline San Luis Obispo County creates an atmosphere where women encourage each other, learn to break down barriers to civic engagement, and become empowered to run for office. Our amazing team of volunteers is committed to helping empower women. We take our convictions and turn them into action. Our quarterly events, organized across the county, are open to all interested in creating a pipeline of women leaders equipped to run for office.  We know women rarely self-nominate.  When they do run for office, statistics show that they win at an equal or better rate than men. Join us to support women or to develop the skills you need to be a great candidate, primed to win!

Cal Poly Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Student Government
ASI’s mission is to enhance the quality of student life and to complement the educational mission of Cal Poly through meaningful social, cultural, recreational, and educational programs. We provide valuable experiences through student advocacy, shared governance, student employment, and leadership opportunities. Last year, ASI Student Government registered more students to vote than any public or private university in California. We will continue to strive towards creating a more civically engaged student body.

In 2006, Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore got the world talking about climate change with the Academy Award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth.
It was just the beginning of a climate revolution. Later that year, he founded what would become The Climate Reality Project to move the conversation forward and turn awareness into action all across the Earth.
Today, as Climate Reality, we’re a diverse group of passionate individuals who’ve come together to solve the greatest challenge of our time. We are activists, cultural leaders, organizers, scientists, and storytellers committed to building a sustainable future together.
