Join us for our second episode of Femme Forum, Answering the Call – a conversation with women in the forefront of the coronavirus crisis. This time we will talk to Brooke-Ashley Pool, SLO MakerSpace COO and Director of Education, and founder of Service for SLO County – a group that is helping to provide the community with face masks.
Brooke-Ashley Pool and Service for SLO County has been working to get ahead of virus and disease transmission in our community and to lessen the demand for materials that front-line medical staff rely on each day as they are at constant risk of repeated exposure. They offer instruction on how to make masks at home, provide materials to whoever wants help or learn to sew masks and from there, donate them to at-risk members of the community, including seniors, the homeless, the immuno-compromised and more.
We will talk about her motivation to step up and help our community, about how this project got started and how it’s been progressing and answer FAQs about mask sewing and proper wear.

About Brooke-Ashley Pool
Brooke-Ashley Pool is a businesswoman, educator, and creative maker. With a background in biochemistry and the science of Education she has dedicated her life to teaching adults and children how to (re)gain a love of learning, exercise and strengthen their brains, and discover a sense of agency through making. Currently, she runs SLO MakerSpace and MiniMakers serving as COO and Director of Education and in her spare time, she runs several volunteer groups and creates as much art as possible.
