Join us for the SLO County Week of Climate Action, which includes two global climate strikes taking place on September 20th and 27th.
A coalition of local environmental groups (Sunrise Movement SLO, ECOSLO, Ecologistics, Santa Lucia Sierra Club, SLO Surfrider, SLO Climate Coalition, SLO Climate Reality Project, Women’s March SLO, SLO County Youth for Environmental Action) are organizing a climate strike in SLO on September 27th from 5-7pm at 1050 Monterey Street (SLO courthouse). This will involve info tables, a rally with speakers, and then a march.
Students in north SLO County and Cal Poly will be striking on September 20th and launching a week of climate action. Our week of climate action will culminate in SLO for a county wide strike on September 27th from 5-7pm at the SLO Courthouse (1050 Monterey St. SLO). Please join us as we rise for climate, jobs, and justice with a march and rally.
The students and community members involved in SLO’s Week of Climate Action are asking the SLO County Board of Supervisors to take the “No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge” and to vote in favor of Community Choice Energy. In addition, we are calling for Gavin Newsom to shift California away from fossil fuel production to clean and renewable energy.
During the Week of Climate Action, local organizations including Santa Lucia Sierra Club, SLO Climate Coalition, and SLO Surfrider are holding events highlighting ways to take action and the solutions to the climate crisis. We are calling on people from all walks of life to participate in a week of Climate Action this September 20th through the 27th. This is an opportunity to come together with students around the nation to encourage our government to protect our environment.
