On March 8th, the International Women’s Day, the Women’s March San Luis Obispo proudly presented a check for $10,000 to RISE SLO at the Nipomo Progressive Women Forum. This is $10,000 that YOU helped to raise! We want to take this moment to thank every contributor from the bottom of our hearts.

RISE is a nonprofit organization that serves both victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones, and provides comprehensive programs, services and resources to the community.

Under new administration, the Violence Against Women Act appears to be on the budgetary chopping block. The VAWA, reauthorized in 2013, improved upon lifesaving services for all victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking and specifically includes Native women, immigrants, LGBT victims, college students and youth, and public housing residents.

Your contribution helps fund RISE SLO, so they can continue helping our community. In their own words: “We are overwhelmed by the amazing generosity of everyone involved with the Women’s March. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts! We promise to put the funds to good use furthering our mission to transform the lives of sexual and intimate partner violence survivors, their families and the community through services and education that promote safety, healing and empowerment.”

Thank you, Marchers!
