Reproductive rights are under attack.

As of September 1, most people in Texas won’t be able to get an abortion because of a new law.

The Texas S.B. 8 law bans abortion around 6 weeks of pregnancy – before many people know they’re pregnant. It makes no exception for cases involving rape or incest. It authorizes any private citizen to sue any person who provides, aid or abets an abortion (including giving a ride or financial support), or even intends to engage in such conduct, effectively deputizing the state citizen’s as bounty hunters, offering them cash prizes of at least $10,000.

ACCESS TO SAFE AND LEGAL ABORTION IS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT!

S.B. 8 is the harshest, most extreme abortion restriction in the country and the first 6-week ban that has been allowed to take effect. However – it will not remain the last.

Reproductive rights are also under attack here in California. If we want to protect access to abortion, we need representatives in office who champion sexual and reproductive health care. According to Jodi Hicks, President/CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, “There is no question that access to abortion is on the ballot in two weeks.”

YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE!

On September 14, California votes in a gubernatorial recall election. Vote-by-mail ballots have already arrived to all registered voters. This is your chance to vote for reproductive justice and for our access to safe, legal, essential health care. Turn your ballot in ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 14!

WMSLO UNITY PRINCIPLES – REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

We believe in Reproductive Freedom. We do not accept any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on our ability to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education. This means open access to safe, legal, affordable abortion and birth control for all people, regardless of income, location or education.
