The International Men’s March (aka Walk a Mile in Her Shoes) to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence, is coming April 29, San Luis Obispo! Join the WMSLO Team.

There’s an old saying: “You can’t understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” At the Walk a Mile events, we literally walk a mile in solidarity with those who’ve experienced gender-based violence. Traditionally this event has showcased men marching in high heels to represent the role men play in ending a form of violence that is overwhelmingly perpetrated by men against women. However, you’re encouraged to walk in any type of shoe you wish, because gender-based violence affects us all—women, men, & children; members of the LGBTQIA+ community; incarcerated individuals; people with disabilities; those of all socioeconomic levels, races, & religions—people in all walks of life.

This is a fun, family-friendly event supporting RISE SLO in their work to provide crisis intervention and treatment services to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence and their loved ones.
