The Time Is Now Chants
Bring these chants to the march with you and let’s have our voices heard!

Show me what democracy looks like!
This is what democracy looks like!

Hey hey, ho, ho
Patriarchy’s got to go!

Whose streets? > Our streets!
Whose rights? > Our rights!
Whose march? > Our March!

Girls just want fundamental human rights!

No hate! No fear!
Immigrants are welcome here!

The people! United!
Will never be defeated!

Whatever we wear, wherever we go,
‘yes’ means ‘yes’ and ‘no’ means ‘no.’

My Body, my choice!
Her body, her choice!

Love not hate,
Makes america great!

No steps backward, only forward. This is why we march.

FAQs
WHY WE MARCH
On January 18, 2020, we will come together for the 4th annual Women’s March in San Luis Obispo, joining thousands across the nation and the world. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Your truth matters. Now is the time to make them count. When we first marched in 2017, our goal was to send a strong message to the administration that we are united in our fight for equal rights and civil liberties. Our message in 2020 is that the time is now to rise up. The time is now to save our democracy and protect our planet, before it’s too late. The time is now to be bold, brave and loud.

WHO IS INVITED?
WMSLO welcomes any person, regardless of gender or gender identity, who believes women’s rights are human rights. All people who believe in a positive and just future are invited to join.

SHOULD I RSVP?
Absolutely yes. It helps us to plan accordingly for things like bathrooms, chairs for those that need them, water, volunteers, march length and more. RSVP here.

WILL THE MARCH BE ACCESSIBLE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES?
We are fortunate to have Katie Voice (back again this year) for sign language interpretation. Mitchell Park is ADA accessible, and we will have a limited number of chairs for those that need them. Please make sure to check the weather and plan for your needs. Let us know if there’s something we’ve missed at womensmarchslo@gmail.com.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Signage, friends, your own reusable water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, raincoat – depending on weather.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times. Please remember that this will be a crowded and loud environment, and be considerate of others, including the dog(s).

WHAT SHOULD MY SIGN SAY?
This rally and march is free and open to the public. Your signs are your personal expression of values you are fighting for. WMSLO does ask that signs not target any one person. That is because we follow the Kingian Principles of Non-Violence. Principle 3 states: “Attack forces of evil, not persons doing evil. The nonviolent approach helps one analyze the fundamental conditions, policies and practices of the conflict rather than reacting to one’s opponents or their personalities.” Therefor we respectfully ask that signs address your truth, and why #TheTimeIsNow to rise up.

WILL YOU HAVE MERCHANDISE?
Yes! We will have t-shirts, tank tops, baseball shirts, hats, totes, buttons and stickers with different graphics and logos. Please bring cash if you’d like to make a donation.

DO YOU NEED VOLUNTEERS?
Yes! We are looking for a few more backup volunteers – you can sign up at https://signup.com/go/jjZybdc

CAN I DONATE?
Yes! This event is free to attend but costs close to $40,000 to produce. Most of this cost goes to safety personnel, permitting, insurance and road closures. You can donate online. Or you can write a check to SocialGoodFund (our fiscal sponsor) with WMSLO in the memo line. Send the check to Women’s March SLO c/o SocialGoodFund, POB 5473, Richmond, CA 94805. Your donations are tax deductible. WMSLO is a fiscally sponsored 501c3. The EIN # is 46-1323531

WHAT ARE THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND MISSION OF WMSLO?

MARCH ROUTE

WE HAVE AN OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY!
On January 18, we rally, we march, and then we party! We are grateful to SubSessions for organizing an event that celebrates femininity within the greater community.

Femme Sessions Volume 2
January 18, 1pm-6pm
Bliss Cafe, 778 Higuera Street, SLO

“In creating our own definition of “femme” and applying it to this event series, we aim to shine light on the feminine energy in all of us, as well as highlight some of the incredible women that proudly take the decks at our events. Join us as we dance, laugh, play, and most of all, celebrate the inner femme in all of our lives on this very special afternoon.” SubSessions Family

The event is all ages and free to the community! A suggested donation of $10 will go towards WMSLO. 10% of Bliss proceeds will also benefit WMSLO.
